How To Create Better Blog Posts

If you've been involved with IM for any length of time, you
obviously know that blogging could be just about the best way
to start almost any venture.

Whether it's affiliate marketing, SEO or even a membership site,
there are many ways to incorporate a blog into your marketing
plans.

I'm currently testing out the "Google Sniper" method which uses
simple, highly targeted blogs to get top rankings in Google. I must
say that my first one is coming along quite well so far. After just
two weeks I'm on page 3 for a keyword that has over 7,000
competing pages!

If you'd like to check out "Google Sniper" you can right here:

Another nice little tidbit I recently stumbled upon was a video
tutorial on how to quickly turn articles from your blog into
videos. This is a really good idea because apparently it takes
most people 5-10 minutes to read through an article where as
if you convert it to video it only takes 1-3 minutes.

This keeps the readers attention longer, thus keeping them on
your site longer and giving you more of a chance to convert
them into a customer or list member.

It's free so check out the video here:

Also below you'll find a short article that will help you create
better blog posts that will keep your readers coming back for
more.

To Your Success,

Blog Post Writing - How to Create Successful Blog Posts
By Sean R Mize
============================================
1. Know your audience. You're most likely to create effective
blog posts if you know the people that you're serving. As a
writer, it's important that you know and understand their needs
and demands. You also need to know their preferences and those
things that they consider very important. Through this, you'll
easily figure out how you'll write your posts in such a way that
you'll be able to help, educate, and entertain these people all at
the same time.

2. Keep it short and simple. Online users are really not big
fans of lengthy articles. Probably because they don't find it
enjoyable to read something from their computer screens for
more than a couple of minutes. So, keep your blog posts
relatively short. It will help if you consolidate your ideas
first before you start writing and if you try your best to
stick with your chosen topics. Also, don't use fillers and big
words. Make sure that your blog posts are easy to understand.

3. Make it scannable. Help your audience quickly find the
information that they're looking for by making your blog posts
easy to skim through. Doing this is relatively easy. Start by
discussing your main points using very short paragraphs. These
must not contain more than 5 sentences. Then, use subheadings
and bullet points.

4. Ensure that your blog posts are informative. The only
reason why people visit blogs is because they would like to be
informed. So, make sure that each of your blog posts contains
at least some. To get the kind of response that you're looking
for, I suggest that you share a slice of your expertise and
share some of your compelling secrets.

This Marketing Method Is Tried And True!

Sometimes when we look at the whole IM (Internet Marketing) scene, we tend to forget that while some things are quite new and innovative (the autoresponder), most of the techniques used today have been around for awhile.

Take the freebie for example. It's a mainstay in every IMers arsenal. It's all about building a list by giving away something of value, usually info, in exchange for the recipients name and email address. It works in practically EVERY niche, and it works well. Click here to find out how you can master this technique.

But here's the thing. This simple but effective piece of marketing magic has been around for over a century! Many credit King Camp Gillette as its creator and I've included a short biography of his in this edition to outline the fact that we can still learn from the people who have come before us in this incredible field of marketing.

So please read his story and hopefully it inspires you to greater things in your own ventures.

The Father Of Freebie Marketing

King Camp Gillette (January 5, 1855 – July 9, 1932) was an American busin

essman, popularly known as the inventor of the safety razor. While Gillette did improve the design of the safety razor (patent US775134), his true invention was an inexpensive, high profit-margin stamped steel disposable blade and a unique business model that later became known as freebie marketing. This beat out competitors and became the most popular razor of its time.

Born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and raised in Chicago, Illinois. King Camp Gillette's family was devastated by the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

While working as a traveling salesman for the Crown Cork and Seal Company to support his family in the 1890s, Gillette would see bottle caps, with the cork seal he sold, thrown away after opening the bottle. This made him realize the value in basing a business on a disposable product. Gillette hit upon an idea. Earlier razor blades needed continuous sharpening, becoming worn out quickly and making them expensive. He realized that a profit could be made by selling a safety razor at a reduced price and then making a profit margin on the inexpensive disposable blades. He developed a blade made out of very thin sheet-steel. Once the blade became dull, it was discarded and replaced by a new one, using the same holder. This has been called the Razor and blades business model.

Safety razors had first been developed in the mid-1800s, but still used a forged blade. In the 1870s, the Kampfe Brothers introduced a type of razor along these lines. Gillette improved these earlier designs of the safety razor and also introduced his true innovation of high profit-margin stamped razor blade steel blades (along with his unique business model). Gillette began giving away his razors to sell more blades, which had a higher profit margin!

The most difficult part of the development was making the blades, as cheap thin steel was very difficult to work with and very difficult to sharpen. This accounts for the long delay between the initial idea and the first production.

To apply his idea, Gillette co-founded the American Safety Razor Company on September 28, 1901 (changing the company's name to Gillette Safety Razor Company in July 1902). Gillette obtained a trademark registration (0056921) for his portrait and signature on the packaging. Production began in 1903, when he sold a total of 51 razors and 168 blades. The following year, he sold 90,884 razors and 123,648 blades, thanks in part to Gillette's low prices, automated manufacturing techniques and good advertising. By 1908, the corporation had established manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, England, France and Germany. Razor sales reached 450,000 units and blade sales exceeded 70 million units in 1915. In 1918, when the U.S. entered World War I, the company provided all American soldiers with a field razor set, paid for by the government.

In his later life he traveled extensively, and was universally recognized from his picture on the packets of razor blades. People were surprised that he was a real person rather than just a marketing image. A Gillette company history stated that in non-English speaking countries people would often ask for "the kind with the Man's Face" blades.

Some peers in the marketing industry quote him as one of the innovators who revolutionized the Freebie marketing ideas. The Gillette Company continued to thrive and sells products under a variety of brand names including Gillette, Braun, Oral-B, and Duracell until 2005, when the company was sold to Procter & Gamble for $57 billion USD. It is now known as Global Gillette, a business unit of Procter & Gamble.

Top 10 Traffic Ideas for your Blog

===================================

Blogs are popular ways to create an online presence for personal
and business reasons. You can build a blog for free and begin
posting content right away. But, what good is that content if no
one is reading it. Here are ten ideas to bring in the traffic your
blog needs to survive.

Of all the successful blogs on the Internet, hundreds more have
failed. Running a blog is like running a business website.
Unless you are willing to put the time in and treat it seriously,
you won't be blogging long.

That is not to say that the failed bloggers weren't serious about
blogging. Mostly, new bloggers aren't prepared for the work that
goes into creating a successful blog. Just building the blog
doesn't mean that people will necessary come to you.
You
pursue the audience and give them a reason to see what you have
to say.

1. Fresh Content – no one wants to visit a blog day after day and
see the same posts. Update your blog content at least twice a week.
This will be easier if you write several posts ahead of time and upload
them at the appropriate times.

2. Article Marketing – the niche you've chosen for your blog is one
that interests you. If it is interesting you will spend more time doing it.
Create content not only for your blog but also to be submitted to
article directories. Use the resource box to advertise your blog so
people can find you.

3. Social Networking – these sites are everywhere. Join Facebook,
MySpace, Squidoo, Twitter or a dozen others and make connections.
You can join groups of likeminded people who are also bloggers or
entrepreneurs.

4. Viral Marketing – this is where you spread the word about your
blog. Talk to friends, family and even strangers. Give out business
cards that have your blog address on them.

5. Use RSS Feeds – RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication."
Readers can subscribe to your feed and get email updates when new
content is posted. It is an easy way for them to keep up with your blog
without spending all day online.

6. Submit Blog to Search Engines – doing this allows your blog to be
ranked. Google and Yahoo! are two of the most popular
search engines you want to crawl your blog pages. It doesn't
guarantee top ranking, though. You'll have to do a little more work for
that.

7. Joining Forums – as a blogger you are a budding entrepreneur.
Right now you are marketing yourself to find traffic and then profit.
Become a member of business forums, work at home forums and
others to meet new people and share ideas. You can add a link to
your blog in the signature line so others can find you.

8. Visit other blogs – show your appreciation to those who visit you
by also posting comments on their blogs. It is a kindness that shows
others you are not just out to advertise your blog alone. Add links to
your blog in your comments.

9. SEO Marketing – whatever you write, use relevant keywords.
Keyword density between three and ten percent is good for getting
higher page rankings in search engines. Base your keywords on a
research you do to find the most popular words used in search engines
for your niche.

10. Social Bookmarking – submitting posts to social bookmarking
sites allows others who are members of those sites to track you
back to your blog.

Using any of these ideas will start the traffic moving in your direction.
It takes time but you will build the readership you want.
